How We Do Things

Recently, I went to my 1st Tony Robbins “Unleash the Power Within” seminar / extravaganza. It was a wild experience that got me thinking of something I’d not considered in years – that there are internal ‘processes’ all of us deploy…and that they are critical to all aspects (personal, romantic, business, & spiritual) of our lives.
It’s so obvious, right? That we have set processes – or ways and patterns – of doing “just about everything.” A way to wake up, and a way to fall sleep. A way to talk to an employee, and way to whisper into the ear of a significant other. A way to motivate to get to the gym, and a way to go food shopping. And on and on.
But consider this. Many of our ‘ways’ were initially set by someone else’s example (or advice) earlier in our lives…and, frankly, these methods may be outdated, inefficient, or simply non-optimal. Tony reminded me, and I agree, that if you’re not getting what you want, perhaps you need a new process.
That’s my insight: If you’re not satisfied with your outcome(s) – at work, in your health, in your relationship,..whatever – you can totally change that. It starts with assessing HOW you do a thing. Then, if you proceed to change the “how,” there is a significant chance that the result will change as well.
